Frozen Ropes Florence take outSun devils with help from Hermelyn, 10-5

Anthony Hermelyn went 3-3 at the plate, sparking Frozen Ropes Florence to a 10-5 victory in six innings over Sun devils on Thursday at A&M.

He singled in the first, fourth, and sixth innings.

 

Sun devils had no answer for Corey Scheibner, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Sun devils managed just three hits off of Scheibner, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out five during his four innings of work.

 

Frozen Ropes Florence stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the first, scoring two runs on a sacrifice fly by Taylor Becerra and an RBI single by Hermelyn.

Frozen Ropes Florence built upon its lead with three runs in the fourth. Hermelyn singled, scoring Becerra to start the inning. That was followed up by Jordan Goode's double, bringing home Hermelyn and Jordan Gibbs.

A one-run fourth inning helped bring Sun devils within four. An RBI single by#6 sparked Sun devils' rally. But, Scheibner got #10 to fly out to end the inning.

One Sun devils run crossed the plate in the bottom half of the fifth, making the score 5-2. An RBI single by #15 gave Sun devils life. #27 to end the Sun devils threat.

Frozen Ropes Florence piled on five more runs in the top of the sixth. A error scored Becerra for the inning's first run. That was followed up by Andrew Miller's single, bringing home Hermelyn.

Three runs in the bottom of the sixth helped Sun devils close its deficit to 10-5. A bases loaded walk by #5 and a two-run double by #16 triggered Sun devils' comeback. Frozen Ropes Florence closed the game out whenKeenan Wingfield got #4 to fly out.
